Maternity Matters first launched back in 2011, founded by Jayne Crammond and Susanne Remic, after they realised they had both suffered a traumatic birth. They noticed the lack of support online for women in the same situation and set up the original website as a safe place to support all women, regardless of their birth experience.
Jayne has since moved on from the project, and Maternity Matters is now headed up by co-founder Susanne and her good friend Jenny Hicken, who are both dedicated towards raising awareness of maternity issues. Their aim is to empower, support and inspire all women and their families, no matter what their maternity experience.
Both Susanne and Jenny were shortlisted for the Mum’s Voice Award at the 2016 Tommy’s Awards, in recognition of sharing their personal experiences to help other mums going through similar difficulties.
Susanne writes at Ghostwritermummy. She is a multi award nominated blogger and mum to four, having written about her maternity experiences since the traumatic birth of her son in 2009. She is an active member of #MatExp and founder of the IUGR Support Group UK on Facebook. She writes about her experiences with birth trauma, hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) and c-sections.
